Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdulla Mutthalib has said that the Gulhifalhu reclamation work is underway and out of the 150 hectares planned to be reclaimed from the area, 90 hectares have been reclaimed.

In a post on X today, Mutthalib said that the Gulhifalhu reclamation is going on as per schedule and unhindered. The government aims to complete the work as soon as possible and provide basic amenities there.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the 'Rasmale' project, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced that 85 hectares of land will be added to the island.

As part of the second phase of reclamation, 150 hectares of land from the lagoon was handed over to Dutch company Boskalis in July, valued at USD 130.4 million (MVR 2.01 billion).
