The Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) is reviewing the concessions granted to former President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

He is currently serving an 11-year prison sentence for bribery and money laundering. While he was banned from political activities, President Yameen formed a new political party, the PNF. Following his earlier participation in a rally and when he arrived at the office to sign the form to join the PNF, the corrections looked into the matter.

The PNF held a rally yesterday, and President Yameen arrived there. In this regard, the concessions given to him are being reviewed, a corrections media officer told One today.

President Yameen has requested further relief from his restrictions, the Corrections Department said on Tuesday.

The relationship between President Dr Mohammed Muizzu and Yameen has deteriorated, and Yameen has left the PPM/PNC on the fourth day of this government to form a new political party.

The sentence has now been appealed in the High Court. The case is also in the final stages of the court.
