The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has advised people to be cautious about the spread of the new variant of COVID-19.
In a press release issued today, HPA stated that since this is the school holiday, many people will travel abroad and other parts of the country.
"As in other cases, fever, virality and respiratory diseases are expected to increase. In December this year, a new variant of COVID-19, JN-1, was detected in many countries and the spread of COVID-19 increased" HPA said in a statement.
Here's what you need to take care of to prevent such diseases:
- Cover your mouth and nose with a small handkerchief/tissue while coughing or sneezing in case of fever
- Take care of general hygiene, wash your hands frequently with cyboni
- If you have fever, wear a mask to cover your mouth and nose, avoid going to crowded places, don't take children to such places, do not come close to children if they have symptoms of the disease
- Go with the patient as few as possible when you go to see a doctor when you're sick, avoid visiting people with illness
- Fever, visit a doctor if you're too old, and isolate yourself from people
- Influenza vaccination of the elderly, children below five years of age, pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems
Home remedies for fever and cough:
- Taking more fluids
- Resting
- Consuming lemon juice, tea, ginger tea, and honey
- Medication other than pharestamol should be taken as per doctor's advice.
