Major General (Retd) Wais Waheed has been appointed as the Director General of the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC).
He has been appointed to the post after the removal of Brigadier General (Retd) Zakariyya Mansoor.
Zakariyya Mansoor, who joined the Army in 1984, retired gracefully on December 9, 2021 after 37 years of service. He has since remained the Chief Executive of the NCTC.
He was removed from the post by the incumbent President on 17th of November.
Wais Vaheed joined the army on June 19, 1989 and retired on the 12th of this month after 34 years of service.
Wais has also served as Commander of the MNDF Southern Area Command, Administrative Officer of the Office of the Chief of Staff, Commanding Officer of the MNDF Catering Service, Second in Command of the Service and Second in Command of Support Battalion II.
He also served as Assistant Commanding Officer of the Special Protection Group, Principal Director of the Directorate of of Logistics and Engineering and a member of the Disaster Management Relief Committee.
The NCTC is a center run by the Ministry of Defense to study and take action against terrorism.
