Schools in the Maldives wrapped up the first semester as students begin a two-week holiday.
The first term of this year started on August 6.
This year, the first term started with a total of 84,200 students, including 73,078 students from 216 government schools and 11,122 students from private schools.
This year, about 7,000 new students have entered the government's formal education system.
According to the academic calendar, students have 17 days of first term vacation this year. The holidays will end and the students will start their second term on the 7th of next month.
The government has decided to start the second term with the national anthem.
The Ministry of Education is currently in talks to start the new academic year 2025 in January. However, no decision has been taken yet.
