Immigration Controller General Mohammed Shamaan Waheed has decided that applicants will not have to carry an ID card while collecting their passport.

The Maldives Immigration said yesterday that passports will be issued to the applicant even if they do not bring their ID card. The decision comes under their efforts to provide ease of service under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's vision.

If the owner appears to collect the electronic passport, they will not be required to bring their ID card. Parents collecting passports of children under the age of 18 will be verified by presenting a photograph of their parent's ID card.

Meanwhile, in the issuance of non-electronic and emergency passports, the owner will not be required to bring the ID card, but if the passport is collected by another person, the serial number of the person must be mentioned in a letter.
