The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) elections will be held on January 31, it has been announced.

The FAM said in a statement today that the association's executive committee meeting today decided to hold the election within 45 days from today. Therefore, the election will be held on January

The opportunity is open to those who wish to apply for the positions of the Executive Committee. The association noted that the documents for application must be submitted by 13:00 on December 27th.

The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has been caught up in financial scandals and a criminal investigation is underway against its officials. Speaking to reporters recently, the Prosecutor General's Office said the FAM officials were being investigated for money laundering and would be sent to prosecution as soon as evidence was available. The prosecution also said that the prime suspect in the case is FAM president Bassam Adeel Jaleel.

Senior club officials within the FAM have also recently resigned, with the current exco expected to lose confidence.
