Public Policy Under Secretary at the President's Office Mohamed Firzul Khaleel has said that the government is committed to start IVF services at IGMH within the next one year.

Addressing a press conference at the President's Office, Firzul said that IVF services will be available under Aasandha from today.

"Earlier, as per the Aasandha policy, fertility-related treatments were classified as non-covered treatments under Aasandha. However, from today onwards, treatment related to fertility services will be covered by Aasandha. This will pave the way for access to various related diagnoses and medicines for prescriptions given for these diagnoses from today," Firzul said.

Replying to a question on whether the government was working on making the service available at IGMH Firzul said that decisions have been taken to set up this capability at IGMH and the aim is to provide it by IGMH in the next one year. The service is currently available at private facilities.

Among the fertility-related treatments that Aasandha decided to cover include PCOS and endometriosis treatments, firzul had earlier said that the decision to provide the service under Aasandha was taken at a cabinet meeting held on December 10.
