Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has opened applications for internship.

The company said it is open to students studying in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 can get workplace experience by partaking in the internship programme at MPL.

Interested candidates can apply for the internship by 17 December.

The internship programme, spearheaded by the Learning and Development Department (LDD) of MPL, will be conducted from December 24 to January 4, 2024.

During the internship, students will be provided with work-related skills and information in the workplace by people who are dedicated to it, MPL said.

One of the main objectives of the programme is to make students familiar with the job opportunities and areas available in MPL, attract them to maritime-related fields and make them aware of the work being done at the port.

Areas earmarked for training students in the internship programme are:

  • Graphics designing
  • Copywriting
  • Civil engineering/surveying and architectural drafting
  • Marine section: Engineering repair and maintenance
  • Machine shop: Fabrication of brass impeller
  • Carpentry
  • Power Generation and Distribution and Electric and Electronic
  • HVAC and Electrical Services, Electric and Electronic
