Prominent journalist and former Broadcom President Mohammed Shahyb has been appointed as the Chief Spokesperson at the President's Office.

According to the President’s Office website, the President, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu appointed Shahyb to the post today. He was appointed at the level of State Minister.

Shahyb, who has won the National Award for Public Service in the field of journalism, has served in the field of journalism for more than 30 years and is one of Maldives' most experienced journalists.

Shahyb is one of the few people who started working as full-time journalists in the Maldives. He first worked as a journalist for Haveeru newspaper. He held senior positions in the newspaper. His creative writing skills were most evident in 2000, when he started publishing the Havas magazine under his editorship.

He was also the Chief Editor and COO of Sun Media for many years.

Later, in 2020, Shahyb started running an online newspaper and magazine called "Adhives" He also runs a media house called Shahyb Media House.

Shahyb Media is a media house registered with the Ministry of Economic Development in 2010 with the objective of training responsible journalists, providing employment opportunities to youth, media management, media marketing and promotion.
