Velana International Airport (VIA) has made it possible for taxis and cars to stop at the domestic terminal.

Previously, taxis from Male and Hulhumale to the airport stopped near the international terminal.

However, MACL, which operates the VIA, has now built a car park on the north side of the domestic terminal. The place can park three cars at a time, and there are people to watch the traffic. Arrangements have also been made for VIP cars.

MACL said today that with the change, cars will also be able to park near the international terminal. Taxis from the airport will be taken to the designated area same as now.

MACL Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohammed told reporters that the company is working with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to provide ease of services at the airport.

The taxi service will be available to both departing and arriving passengers in the future. The work will start after the completion of the road construction work, he said.
