The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has decided to allow junior high school graduates lead Friday prayers.
Those under 18 were prohibited from leading Friday prayers and delivering sermons by the previous government.
However, the Islamic Minister, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem revealed in a post on X today, that the ministry has decided that graduates of grades 10, 11 and 12 who are proficient in Quran and salat will be eligible to become an imam and deliver sermons during Friday prayers.
According to the rules, people are allowed to pray as imams in mosques only after obtaining a certificate issued by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
