The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case in the Civil Court seeking to stop the promotion of police officers.
A civil court official told One Online today that the ACC had sought an interim order to promote the policemen. They also requested information on the promotion rules.
Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's government gave promotions to officers of the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police two days before the end of the government. However, the promotions have since been postponed.
In response to the criticism, Police stated that the promotions were decided to be given during April this year. The promotions are being given in accordance with the rules for promotion of service positions, according to them.
It is learned that the promotions were given by the then Police Commissioner Mohammed Hameed. The promotions were decided to be given last August and were given in accordance with the law.
