Former Attorney General Azima Shukoor haș won PPM/PNC ticket without a primary due to lack of applicants.
The PPM/PNC opened the primary for the vacant Mayoral and three vacant council seats from 31 November to 4 December.
"Azima Shukur has contested the opportunity opened by the Progressive Congress Coalition for the post of Mayor," PPM said today.
Azima will get the coalition's ticket as no other candidate has filed to contest the mayoral primary.
Azima has submitted her forms last night to contest the primary to contest the by-election for the Mayor of the city.
She handed over her form to PNCF Chairman Abdul Raheem Abdullah at a ceremony held at the PPM/PNC's new office last night.
The post of Male' City Mayor became vacant after Dr. Muizzu resigned after winning the Presidential elections.
The Election Commission has decided to hold the primary for the mayoral seat on 13 January 2024.
Former MTCC CEO Adam Azim has won the MDP ticket for the Mayoral seat. Current city councilor Mohamed Saif Fathih and former police commissioner Hussain Waheed have also announced their candidacies for the post.
