Former Attorney General Azima Shukoor has filed her nomination papers to contest the primary to select the candidate to contest for Male' City Mayor from PPM/PNC.

Azima handed over her form to PNC Chairman Abdul Raheem Abdullah (Adhurey) at a small ceremony held at the PPM/PNC new office yesterday.

The post of Mayor of the city has become vacant after Dr Mohammed Muizzu, who won the presidential election resigned to be sworn in as president.

The Election Commission has decided to hold the primary for the election of the mayor of the city in January

Former MTCC CEO Adam Azim has won the MDP ticket for the Mayoral seat. Current city councilor Mohammed Saif Fatih and former police commissioner Hussain Waheed have also announced their candidacies for the post.
