The Controller General of Immigration has decided to expedite the issuance of passports in the cities.

Addu City’s immigration used to issue passports twice a week, previously. Passports for Kulhudhuffushi, Thinadhoo and Fuvahmulah City were sent once a week as well.

In a statement released on Sunday, Maldives Immigration said that the decision was taken to ensure better services to the public as has been pledged by the President. As such, passport issuance services will be expedited in the cities that issue passports apart from Malé City.

With this new change, Addu City will issue passports four times a week and the remaining cities will receive passports twice a week.

Immigration further added that passport issuance services will soon be made available in other regions as well to ensure ease to the public.
