Maldivian High Commission in Sri Lanka has advised all Maldivians departing the country to obtain a police document from nearest Police Office, before heading to the airport.

The High Commission said that Maldivians who were departing the Lanka could show their passport to the nearest Police Office, upon which they will be given a police document. Upon submission of the document to relevant authorities at the airport, they would be able to depart the country without further issues.

Following several bomb attacks in Lanka, the country had amped up security across the country. The High Commission has appealed all Maldivians in Lanka to remain indoors for safety issues.

Eight blasts have been confirmed so far, and the total death toll is nearing 200 with an additional 600 people injured. There are no reports of any Maldivian being injured during these attacks as of yet.

The High Commission had previously stated that they were closely monitoring the situation and keeping tabs on Maldivians in the country.
