Former MTCC CEO Adam Azim has filed his nomination papers to contest in the MDP primary to choose a candidate for the mayoral post in Male' City.
At a ceremony held at the party's office this evening, Azim handed over the nomination papers to MDP chairperson Fayyaz Ismail.
Speaking to the media after filing his nomination papers for the primary, Azim said that if elected as mayor, he would try to make Male' a comfortable place to live in and would do everything possible to solve the major problems faced by the people of the city.
Azim holds a Master of Business and Financing degree from the University of Nottingham and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance degree from the University of East London.
He has also served as managing director of STO and MWSC and a member of the board of directors of structural products.
Male' Mayor's seat fell vacant after the new President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, resigned from the post on November 17.
Apart from Azim, former sports minister Ahmed Mahloof had also expressed interest in becoming mayor and campaigned, but later did not comment on it.
Former attorney general Azima Shukoor, former police commissioner Hussain Waheed and now city council councillor Mohamed Saif Fatih have also expressed interest and are campaigning for the post.
