Former CEO of the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Adam Azim, has decided to file his nomination papers for the MDP mayoral primary.

Azim said he will arrive at the MDP office at 4:20 pm to submit the form.

Many people have expressed their support for Azim for the vacant post. They include former Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi.

Prior to his appointment as CEO of MTCC, Azim was the Managing Director of MWSC. However, in 2020, Azim was transferred to MTCC.

As the CEO of MTCC, Azim has brought many progresses to the company. Azim has earned the trust of the people by completing the contracts quickly. He also made the company financially prosperous.

In addition, MTCC has started bus services in the city under Azim's supervision. The bus service is a reliable transport system that is used by many people every day.

The seat of the Mayor of the city became vacant after Mohammed Muizzu resigned on 17th of this month to take over as President.

Azim, along with former sports minister Ahmed Mahloof, also expressed interest in the mayoral post and campaigned, but he did not comment on it later.

Former Attorney General Azima Shakoor, former Police Commissioner Hussain Waheed and current city councilor Mohammed Saif Fatih have also expressed interest in the post.
