Managing Director of Urbanco, Fazal Rasheed, has announced that MVR 200,000 will be given to the owners of Hiyaa flats as promised by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

During the election campaign, President Dr. Muizzu had promised to pay MVR 200,000 as compensation to the flat owners for the expenses incurred for the finishing work of the Hiyaa flats. However, recent reports on social media stated that he had decided not to pay the compensation.

Denying this, Urbanco's new Managing Director Fazul posted on X on Tuesday night that Hiyaa flat owners would receive the money spent on the construction of the Hiyaa flat as promised by President Dr. Muizzu.

The flats were handed over to the residents before the finishing works were completed. As such, the residents themselves had to do the finishings on the apartments by themselves.

President Dr. Muizzu's promise is to install more lifts in the Hiyaa flat, for which MVR 200 million has been allocated in the next year's budget.
