The Election Commission (EC) has said the Commission will take a decision tomorrow on a petition seeking permission to form the People's National Front (PNF), headed by former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Permission to form the PNF was sought two days ago, by Yameen's eldest son, Zein Abdulla Yameen.
EC's Vice President Ismail Habib said in a post on X that a decision will be taken at the Commission's meeting at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow on the proposal submitted by Zein Abdulla Yameen to form a political party.
Former minister Mohamed Maleeh Jamal, who led the formation of a new party on behalf of President Yameen, said the PNF would break the record of forming a new party in the Maldives.
The party is working on gathering 3,000 signatures to submit to EC upon approval.
