STELCO has started removing the transformer installed on the road near the Maveyo mosque.

The transformer has caused inconvenience to the people using the area and the road, and garnered numerous public complaints.

Hussain Fahmy, who took over as managing director of STELCO, arrived at the site today and inspected the site to begin the work of removing the transformer installed on the road near Maaveyo Mosque. He said the removal will be completed by the end of this year.

Fahmy also apologised to the people for the inconvenience caused by the transformer.

"President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's main focus since assuming office has been to provide relief to the people. We want to remove this transformer off the road by the end of this year and assure that we will make it easier for the users of this road," Fahmy said.

The transformer in the Maaveyo mosque area has been there for the past six years.
