The construction of the second Waqf building to raise money for the mosque fund will start in January, Islamic Minister Dr. Mohammed Shaheem said.

In a post on X yesterday, Shaheem said the mosque fund should be developed and further expanded as per President Mohammed Muizzu’s promise.

However, he did not give details of the new waqf building. The first building was started to raise funds for the repair of mosques in the city and rural areas.

The 10-storey building was officially opened on 13 January 2017 on vacant land adjacent to Maafannu Madharasaa. The building, named Darul Iman, already brings in MVR 6 million annually to the mosque fund.
