Former President and PPM President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom will submit the formation of a new political party to the Election Commission (EC) on Sunday, former minister Mohammed Maleeh Jamal said.
Yameen decided to leave PPM and form a new political party early yesterday, stating that the leadership of PPM/PNC is no longer cooperating with President Yameen. The announcement was made by Yameen’s senior lawyer, Dr. Mohammed Jameel Ahmed.
Jameel told Channel 13 yesterday that the PPM-PNC leadership has moved away from President Yameen and has not consulted him on anything. He also said that they do not want President Yameen to run PPM.
Sharing the latest details of the new party, Maleeh told One today that everything in the new party will be completed today.
He said he would apply for permission to form the party next Sunday. Malih said in a post on X today that the party's logo has just been finalised. They are also ready to join the new party.
