MDP to hold national council meeting in Ukulhas

Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) is scheduled to hold a national council meeting in AA. Ukulhas tonight.

MDP's Deputy Chairperson Ibrahim Waheed told 'One' today that this meeting is to plan the party's upcoming activities.

MDP's national council meeting was last held in Male' on October 3, following the defeat in the presidential election. The meeting was also attended by the party's senior-most leader Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

At the meeting, MDP decided not to support the parliamentary system if a systemic vote was reached to change the system of government, and a resolution was moved to allow those who had previously served as president and vice-president in the party's national council.

However, no decision has been taken on the resolution.

President Solih will not attend MDP's national council meeting in Ukulhas this evening since he is not holding a post in the party and his term in office is over.
