The MDP has elected Mohammed Rasheed Hussain (Bigey) as the Leader of their Parliamentary Group.

The MDP Parliamentary Group Leader, Mohammed Rasheed, received 28 votes at the meeting held today. The second highest number of votes went to Kaashidoo MP Abdullah Jabir. That’s 20 votes. Kurendu MP Abdul Ghani Abdul Hakeem got four votes.

The post of MDP Parliamentary Group Leader became vacant after the former Hithadhoo North MP Mohammed Aslam was elected as the Speaker of Parliament.

According to the MDP Constitution, the term of office of the Leader of the Parliamentary Group is two years and six months.
