The PNC moved to a separate office due to administrative difficulties in the operation, PNC Vice President and current Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam has said.
In recent years, the PPM/PNC has been running in the same office. Even though President Yameen is serving a jail sentence, he is the leader of the party.
With the victory of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, President Yameen has been placed under house arrest. Many concessions have since been made. He was given the opportunity to play sports, exercise, and go out for health purposes and meet people.
Even after President Yameen was transferred to house arrest, supporters continued to take to the streets. However, President Muizzu had asked to refrain from such demonstrations and asked to givehim the opportunity work fro the release of President Yameen.
Following this, subtle exchanges happened between President Yameen and President Muizzu, the most notable of which was President Yameen's absence at the inauguration ceremony.
While the situation continues to escalate, PNC had suddenly opened a new office in Male'. The PNC President is President Dr. Muizzu who had previously said he would work to grow PNC.
Asked why the PNC opened a separate office, Minister Shiyam said that the decision had been long time coming. He said there were many difficulties in doing things within the same office. There are many challenges, especially in doing administrative work and maintaining documents.
