MIFCO has brought a new fish processing vessel.

MIFCO said in a statement that it was the first of three vessels to be added to its fleet. The vessel, dubbed 'Jazeera 106', was docked in Male' at around 2200hrs on Monday.

The vessel, which began its journey from November 4, was brought from Thailand and MIFCO said it had the capability to freeze 60 tonnes of brine per day and store 200 tonnes of fish per day, and that it would be able to purchase an additional 180 tonnes of fish per day when it joined the company's fleet.

MIFCO also said that the two vessels that will be added to the fleet are of the capacity of the vessel that was brought in last night and will be brought to the country by the end of the year.

MIFCO has purchased four vessels this year and brought one of them to the Maldives in March. MIFCO said that it will be able to freeze 300 tonnes of fish per day from the four boats added to MIFCO's fleet this year.
