Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has opened applications for Fishermen's Awards.
In a notification, the Ministry said that applications have been opened for the award on the sidelines of the 43rd Fishermen's Day.
According to the notification, only those who are actively involved in the fisheries industry and the most hardworking (under35) fishermen, and the most experienced (above 35 years) fishermen will be eligible to participate in the award.
The Ministry said an award will be given to the winners in recognition of their contribution to the fisheries sector.
The eligible candidates will be able to apply for both the awards from today onwards and submit their applications to the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources by 12:00 pm on November 30 and download the application form from the ministry's website www.fishagri.gov.mv.
At the same time, nominations for both the awards can be made in their individual capacity or from any other person and the application form for the award will be forwarded to the Ministry's email address [email protected], according to the notification.
The basic criteria for the award include:
- Fishing as the main source of income
- Having played the role of a captain in a fishing vessel
- Only fishermen below the age of 35 years can apply for the Most Hardworking Young Fisherman Award
- Fishermen above the age of 35 years can be awarded the Most Experienced Fisherman Award.
Applicants have to submit ID card copy along with form, copy of any certification obtained in educational/fisheries field.
