The parliament has approved the supplementary budget for MVR 6.5 million allocated to the media, which was sent to the parliament by the parliament's budget committee.
The budget was presented to the Parliament by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's government to raise funds for further spending in the coming part of the current fiscal year.
The budget was passed by 57 of the 68 members present at the meeting, while 10 members voted against passing the budget.
The parliament's approval of the budget will increase the state budget for the current fiscal year to MVR 49.4 billion. The MVR 42.8 billion approved by the parliament for the current fiscal year, while the MVR 6.5 billion presented as supplementary budget includes MVR 3.1 billion for recurring and MVR 3.3 billion in capital expenditure.
Out of the proposed increase in recurring expenses, MVR 1.8 billion has been allocated for the subsidy. MVR 1.2 billion has been allocated for Aasandha.
As capital expenditure, MVR 1.7 billion has been allocated in the budget for 12 PSIP projects, out of which the highest amount has been allocated for Addu Land Reclamation and Coastal Protection Project. MVR 344 million has been allocated for the Hanimaadhoo Airport Project, MVR 290 million has been allocated for the construction of sewerage projects in 34 islands, and MVR 290 million for the construction of sewerage projects in 34 islands. MVR 146 million has also been allocated for the Male' -Thilafushi bridge project.
