The High Court has scheduled the final hearing of the appeal against the 11-year jail sentence handed down by the Criminal Court in the MMPRC Corruption Case against former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom for Tuesday.

The prosecution charged Yameen with money laundering and accepting bribes.

The last hearing in the case was held in the High Court on 13th of this month. The court clarified the issues to be clarified on behalf of Yameen, his co-accused Yusuf Naeem and the prosecution.

Most importantly, the court noted how the new evidence was presented, some of the provisions of the Evidence Act and how it was applied before.

Concluding the hearing, presiding judge Hassan Shafiu said the next hearing would be the closing hearing of the appeal trial.

The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday at 2:00 pm.

After being given a last chance on Yameen's appeal, the verdict will be handed down.
