Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer has said he will work with India on issues of mutual interest.

Zameer made the statement in response to a post by Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on X (Formerly Twitter) congratulating him on his appointment as Foreign Minister.

In his post, Jaishankar said he looked forward to working together to further strengthen the special relationship between the Maldives and India.

Replying to the post, Zameer said he would work together on issues of mutual interest and hoped to reshape and continue the long-standing relationship between the two countries.

President Muizzu had earlier said that he would work to withdraw Indian troops from the Maldives starting from the first week and make the Maldives a place where there are no troops of any country.

He said he would not harbor enmity or jealousy with other countries and would respect neighboring and distant countries.
