Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has been sworn in as the President of Maldives.

The oath of office ceremony took place at the Republic Square. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Ahmed Mu’uthasim Adnan.

Hussain Mohamed Latheef was sworn in as the Vice President of Maldives. His oath of office was administered by the Chief Justice as well.

Dr. Muizzu resigned as Malé City Mayor earlier in the day.

Dr. Muizzu is the 8th President of the Maldives. His oath of office ceremony was officiated by Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Aslam.

The ceremony was attended by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, former Vice President Faisal Naseem, cabinet members, parliamentarians, and PPM/PNC leadership.

The ceremony was attended by 3,500 people, including over 120 delegates from 46 countries.
