Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has condemned the suspension of three staff of the Ombudspersons Office for Transitional Justice for cooperating with the ACC investigation.

The commission had yesterday approached the ombudsperson's office in connection with an ongoing probe.

In a statement, ACC said that the commission's investigative teams that had gone to the ombudsperson's office in connection with a case being investigated by the commission were obstructed by some senior officials of the office. Acc stated the senior officials obstructed the work of the employees who had cooperated with the investigation and cut off some of the access given to the employees and suspended them from service.

"This Commission condemns in the strongest possible terms the action taken by the office against these employees," the ACC said in a statement.

ACC statement also thanked the employees who supported the commission for their efforts to uphold the law.

ACC further said that the commission did not engage in any activity that would affect the services provided by the office to the general public during the process of seeking information from the office of the ombudsman or to discontinue the service.
