Abdul Maniu Hussain has been appointed as Judge of the High Court.
The appointment was made at a special ceremony held at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) today.
A post on the High Court bench fell vacant following the retirement of Judge Ahmed Shakil.
JSC said Maniu's appointment was made after the 74th meeting of the commission held yesterday after an interview by the "Committee advising the Commission on the Appointment of Judges".
Maniu holds a bachelor's degree in shariah and law from Kulliyath al Dhiraasaath al Islamiyah and a Master of Shariah and Law from Villa College. Maniu has been a lawyer since 2013 and has nine years of experience in the judiciary.
Maniu was previously a member of the JSC on behalf of the lawyers, he had resigned from the post on November 12, 2023.
