Following the success of the previous two Migrant Workers' Cricket Carnivals in collaboration with Ooredoo Maldives, Mission for Migrant Workers Maldives (MMWM) on Tuesday announced the launch of the 3rd Annual Migrant Workers' Cricket Carnival scheduled for December 1, 2023.
Ooredoo Maldives returns as the primary partner of the cricket carnival. Urbanco and the Maldives Cricket Board also serve as additional partners, alongside our health and legal awareness camp collaborators.
The cricket carnival is set to be held on December 1st, with registrations for the carnival being open starting today.
Participants can register through their social media platforms, website, or by completing the application form and emailing it to [email protected].
Free medical screenings and legal aid to migrant workers will be provided throughout the event. Past Health Camp partners include World Health Organization (WHO) Maldives, Society for Health Education (SHE), Medicos, Health Protection Agency (HPA), and Life Support. Additionally, Legal and Awareness Camp, partners include Transparency Maldives (TM), Public Interest Law Centre (PILC), International Organisation for Migration (IOM), and Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM).
MMWM also acknowledged the invaluable support from Ace Travels Maldives, Happy Market, Maldivian Red Crescent, and One Online for their contributions in sponsoring the winners award, providing beverages, first aid assistance, and media & photography services, respectively.
The carnival will be expanding this year to accommodate 40 teams and introduce additional stalls for food and entertainment.
MMWM aims to continue organizing similar activities and programs to enhance migrant workers' engagement and promote social inclusion.
