Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) has decided to hold an extraordinary congress on November 17th, and informed all member clubs of the decision.

In a letter to member clubs, the association said the rules had been amended and approved at the last general meeting and should be implemented from then on.

The new rules of procedure of the Volleyball Association were approved by the member clubs on the 3rd of this month at the first general meeting held in the last three years. The association's three-year budget was also approved at the meeting. There are many complaints about the volleyball exco, and a special provision has been included in the regulation to change the exco.

Article 56 of the regulation was amended to provide that an election of the Executive Committee of the Association shall be held and a new Executive Committee shall be elected within a maximum of 10 (ten) days from the date of adoption of the Executive Committee.

When the deadline expired yesterday, the VAM had not been able to work for an election due to lack of cooperation from the Sports Commissioner, the VAM exco told One Sports. Many of the member clubs have called an extraordinary congress and submitted it to the VAM.

In a letter sent to the member clubs yesterday, the VAM said two-thirds of the association's member clubs had requested an extraordinary congress to decide on the election. The VAM letter also asked clubs to submit their representative information by the 15th of this month.

The bylaws have also been approved to change the way the exco is elected. The members of the exco, who were previously elected by the vote of coaches and referees, will be elected by the vote of the clubs.

At the same time, the appointment of members to the disciplinary committee has been changed to a voting system and the exco has to apply for beach volleyball and other divisions.
