Deputy Speaker of parliament Eva Abdulla has said that she has not resigned from her post.
Earlier in the day, Speaker Mohamed Nasheed resigned in the wake of heavy criticism from the MP's while the Parliament was at a standstill after Nasheed's no-confidence motion could not proceed.
MDP also submitted a motion to remove Deputy Speaker Eva Abdulla from the post with the signatures of 50 lawmakers. Following Nasheed's resignation, talk of Eva's resignation spread as well.
"I didn't resign," Eva said, when asked by 'One' if she had resigned as Deputy Speaker.
MDP has submitted a resolution to remove Eva as the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament with the signatures of 49 MDP lawmakers and independent MP Mohamed Nasheed Abdulla.
