White Alert issued across Maldives following thunderstorms

MET Office has issued a white alert across Maldives, following the thunderstorms that the island nation had been experiencing these past few days.

According to the MET Office, the weather is expected to get worse starting 6:30am on Saturday till 12:30pm, and hence had issued a white alert across the country for the time period. The MET Office also expects winds of 40 mph during storms.

Some islands have also been experiencing tidal waves during the stormy weather. In addition to this, L. Fonadhoo experienced a small tornado, which had caused several damages as well.

White Alerts are issued to notify everyone to be wary of the weather and is usually issued when harsh winds and rough oceans along with thunderstorms are expected. If a white alert is issued, sea travelers are advised to seek the latest weather information before going forward with their journey.
