President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that there will be more women in key positions in the government and six of the SOE companies will be managed and run by women who are capable of doing SOE.

Speaking to PSM on the occasion of The Republic Day, President-elect Dr. Muizzu said that his government, with a total of 22 ministries and companies, will have the highest number of women in the government's top management.

Dr. Muizzu said his government wants to allow as many women as possible even though there were fewer women in the cabinet. Pointing out that previous governments had not entrusted women to run state-owned companies, Dr. Muizzu said that they had already decided to hand over six important companies to women, but he did not name them.

"Till date, there is only one person who has set up an SOE to run government companies, but even now the team formed by this government will have six capable women who will manage six important companies," he said.

Dr. Muizzu said that while making appointments to the posts, it has been considered that a person who is related to a particular field and who has experience in that field should be appointed. If there is no experience in the field, then it will be considered to appoint a person who runs a portfolio assigned and is as closely related to that field as possible.

He said that when members of his team are combined, they will include those who have at least a first degree in education and at least those who have direct experience in the field in terms of experience, who have full faith in honesty and service delivery.
