President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the budget for 2024 presented to the Parliament includes salary increments for civil servants.
In a televised address on Republic Day, President Solih said that he has made a positive change in the salaries of the workers in the last five years.He said the salaries of these employees, including education, health and technical staff, have been hiked.
"The upcoming Budget 2024, we have sent a proposal to parliament to increase the salaries of the judiciary, army, police and all other government employees," he said.
The President also said that major changes have been made to decentralise governance in all sectors of the country and that the country has now paved the way for the country to grow through decentralization.
During this year's presidential campaign, the President announced that the salaries of government employees would be increased from January. The President announced a positive change in the salaries of police, military, judiciary, Maldives Immigration, Customs Service, Correctional Service, Civil Service, Imams, Mudhims and Civil Servants of the Council. said at the time.
Some of the changes the President has decided to bring in the salary of employees include:
- Salary of police constable from MVR 11,000 to MVR 15,400
- MNDF Private's salary from MVR 11,500 to MVR 16,100
- Salary of council employees from MVR 7,200 to MVR 10,500
- Civil Service Ministry's Director's salary from MVR 16,000 to MVR 23,200
He had earlier said that there would be at least 40 percent increase in the salary of each person.
