Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has decided to step down as president of the Islamic Organization for Cultural and Civilization (IOCC) in order to take over the government position of President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Shaheem told 'One' today that he was not coming for the post of Islamic Minister, but did not give details of the post he was scheduled to take.
"At last night's meeting, I had said that I am going to step down as president of the IOCC. It's just to get into another position," Shaheem said.
There have been rumours on social media in the past that Shaheem will be given the post of Islamic Minister in Dr. Muizzu's government, but he has not denied any rumours yet.
Shaheem had previously served as the Islamic Minister in former President Mohamed Nasheed's government and served as Islamic Minister in former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's administration, and Yameen's running mate in the 2018 presidential election was Shaheem. Shaheem is currently an advisor to the party.
Shaheem has also served as an advisor to the IOC and chancellor of the Islamic University.
