State Minister at the Housing Minister and Chair of 'Gedhoruveriyaa' Committee has stated that points were awarded according to the information provided in the applications for 'Gedhoruveriya' scheme.
Akram made the statement speaking to a group of people who were protesting at the Housing Ministry regarding the awarding of points after the list of flat recipients was released.
Protesters at the Ministry raised their voices in response to Akram, and did not allow him to speak further. They were alleging foul play in the awarding of points, and demanded transparency in how the points were awarded.
Akram further revealed that complaints to the list are open starting today, which can be submitted through the portal.
Protesters at the ministry were heard as saying that people with better living standards have been given more points. Those who are not on the list released yesterday will be given flats from other government projects. However, protesters noted that they would rather have the points recalculated.
Some are even calling for the list to be canceled altogether.
According to the announcement issued by the ministry yesterday, the beneficiaries of the 4,000 flats currently being built by the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation are those who have scored 76 and above. Those who receive two-bedroom apartments are those who score 73 points and above.
