Housing Ministry has said that those who want to vacate Sinamale' and some other flats allotted by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's government can apply for flats and land allotted under the 'Binveriya' scheme.
Minister of State for Housing Akram Kamaluddin said in an interview with Raajje TV on Monday night that even those who have already got flats under the housing scheme can apply.
"It must have been a long time ago that the flats were given during the former President Maumoon's administration. It's the same small flats that've been around for a long time. It's in Hulhumale'. Those who got Sinamale' flats can also apply now," Akram said.
Akram said residents of one-room flats allotted earlier and allotted by SOEs have expressed concerns about non-availability of other options. Akram said they too can apply for land and flats during the current open period.
As many as 6,000 flats and over 4,500 plots will be opened for the second phase of the government housing project, out of which Uthuru Thila Falhu is one of the places where land will be allotted.
