The number of Chinese tourists coming to the Maldives has increased.
According to the Tourism Ministry, 122,181 tourists arrived in Maldives on the second day of this month from China. That’s 9.9 percent of the market share.
However, more than 11,700 tourists have arrived in the past 18 days. That’s an average of 650 tourists a day. With that figure, the number of tourists from China reached 133,962 as of the 20th of this month.
With that, the gap between the Chinese market and Russia, which has the largest number of tourists so far this year, and India, which has the second largest number of tourists, has narrowed significantly.
As of the 20th of this month, 152,967 tourists arrived from Russia, narrowing the gap between the country and China by 1.5 percent. India also received 144,041 tourists during the period, narrowing the gap to 0.8 percent.
The number of Chinese tourists coming to Maldives has increased and China is likely to be the largest tourist market this year.
