The Election Commission (EC) has decided to extend the polling time for the second round of the presidential election on the 30th of this month.

The second round of voting will be held from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the Election Commission said at a press conference today. The voting time was extended to give as many people as possible the opportunity to vote.

"The second round of voting will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The counting of votes will start after a 30-minute break," EC Chairman, Fuwad Thaufeeq said.

EC Vice-President Ismail Habib said the extension of polling time in previous elections had increased the number of voters but the second round of voting would not be given more time than the current time.

The opportunity to re-register for the second round will be available on the 15th, 16th and 17th of this month.
