Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid on Wednesday met his German counterpart, Heiko Maas.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in Berlin. During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the bilateral ties of both countries. As such, Minister Shahid had talked about establishing a permanent office for visa arrangements for the Schengen area.
The Schengen Area is an area comprising 26 European states that have officially abolished all passport and all other types of border control at their mutual borders. The area mostly functions as a single jurisdiction for international travel purposes, with a common visa policy.
His German counterpart had congratulated him on winning the Presidential Election this past year, along with the completion of a smooth and independent Parliamentary Election this week.
The Minister was visiting Germany to take part in the 5th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue.
