Russia's national carrier, Aeroflot, has decided to increase its flights to the Maldives.

Aeroflot currently makes four trips a week to the Maldives.

In a statement, Aeroflot said it will increase its flights between Moscow and Male' from October 1. As such, they are going to operate daily flights to the country.

In addition, three more trips will be held to Male' City from November 1. These flights will take place every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

With this, Aerofloat's flights to the Maldives will increase to 10 trips a week.

The Maldives has emerged as one of the most popular destinations in Aeroflot's flight program, with the highest number of tourist arrivals so far this year from Russia.

According to statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 137,221 tourists arrived in the Maldives from Russia as of August 16. It accounts for 11.8 per cent of the market share.
