The Bank of Maldives (BML) has made it possible to conduct foreign transactions through American Express (AMEX) debit cards issued by the bank.

While Visas and Master Debit Cards currently issued by the bank allow transactions abroad, earlier, AMEX Debit Cards did not.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Bank said that AMEX Debit Cards linked to local currency accounts will now allow people to make foreign transactions online and abroad.

They further added that the USD 250 transaction limit also is applicable to these cards.

This is the same rate as for other cards as well.

Debit cards issued by the bank have a limit of USD 250, while credit cards issued by the bank have a limit of USD 750 overseas.
