Former President and Mahchangolhi Central MP Elect, Mohamed Nasheed has said that the party will not abuse the power of the super majority they have gained at the Parliament.

President Nasheed made the statement in an interview given to PSM News.

“It’s our responsibility, not to abuse the majority power even though we have it,” the President noted.

He added that there was no restrictions in freedom of press and that there should be no existence of such a thing as a state media. Freedom of speech and press should be equal to all media institutions be it government or private.

President Nasheed highlighted that a media should not favor one side, and stressed that their responsibilities were to report on all happenings impartially.

He also noted that people should be able to carry out peaceful political activities and urged everyone to uphold these basics.
